Atlanta, GA – Today, Senate Majority Leader Schumer is having the Senate vote to break the filibuster in order to pass two pieces of legislation: The DC Takeover of Elections to Make It Easy to Cheat Act, and the Pelosi Power Grab. Nearly every Senate Democrat is expected to vote in favor of breaking the filibuster. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“Senate Democrats should not tamper with what has worked for more than 230 years. As Senator Manchin pointed out last week, never in the entire history of the United States has the Senate brought debate to a close with a simple majority. There is a reason the Founders gave us two legislative chambers, not one, and there is a reason one of them works by majority rule and the other works by supermajority rule. We urge every Senator to vote against breaking the filibuster, because breaking the filibuster would break the Senate. This should never have been brought up for a vote in the first place.”
