Atlanta, GA – Today, President Trump will issue an executive order that will begin the process of dismantling the Department of Education. This long-overdue action sets the stage for Congress to finish the job and return control of education to states, parents, and local communities. Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“President Trump’s executive order marks the beginning of the end for Washington’s top-down control of our schools. For decades, the Department of Education has wasted billions of taxpayer dollars, fueled bureaucratic inefficiency, and imposed federal mandates that stifle innovation and competition in education.

“Dismantling the Department of Education will allow states to allocate resources more efficiently, tailor education to their individual needs, and eliminate burdensome federal red tape that holds students back. Education should be driven by students’ needs, not Washington’s agenda.”
