New Tea Party Patriots Action Poll: Americans Optimistic on Trump’s Leadership, Want Swift Action on Trump’s Agenda

February 7, 2025
Atlanta, GA – According to a new poll released today by Tea Party Patriots Action, a significant majority of Americans support President Trump’s agenda on spending cuts, the economy, immigration, and other crucial issues. Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:
“Americans support President Trump’s agenda, and it’s time for the politicians and bureaucrats to recognize that and either get on board or get out of the way. Our new poll shows broad, bipartisan support for President Trump’s agenda – an important reality check for the Beltway elites who are already trying to thwart the president, and proof positive that Americans want to get control of Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending and prevent the massive tax hike Democrats want.
“Our new poll shows that approximately four-in-five voters agree that Congress and the President must rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending to lower inflation and bring down grocery prices (79% agree,12% disagree). Seven-in-ten voters support Congress and the President taking action to extend the current tax policy to prevent a tax hike (71% support, 15% oppose). A large majority of voters want accountability – two-in-three voters prefer that Members of Congress vote on creating regulations rather than unelected bureaucrats (67% support, 11% oppose). Three-in-five voters say that Congress has an obligation to the American people to secure the border before taking their extended recess in April (62% support, 25% oppose). A majority of voters say they expect to be better off over the next four years now that President Trump is in office (50% agree, 38% disagree).
“Our organization was founded on the principles of individual liberty, fiscal responsibility, and limited government. That’s what President Trump wants, and that’s what the American people support – our new poll proves that. Consequently, we call on Congress to fulfill the demands of the American people with swift implementation of President Trump’s agenda.”
The poll of 1,000 general election voters was conducted by McLaughlin & Associates on January 28. The full question wordings and results are below.
“The cost of a dozen eggs four years ago was $1.47; today, a dozen eggs costs $4.15. many economists say that Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending is the primary driver of higher prices on groceries and basic household goods. Do you agree or disagree that Congress and the President must rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending so that Americans can better afford their groceries?” The results were 79.0% “agree,” 12.2% “disagree.”
“Congress is going to take a 17-day recess in April. Do you think Congress has an obligation to the American people to secure the border before taking this extended break?” The results were 62.4% “yes,” 25.0% “no.”
“The current tax policy is set to expire at the end of the year. If congress and the president do not take action before then, most Americans will see an increase in their taxes, with the average household experiencing a 22 percent tax hike, representing the largest tax increase in American history. Do you support or oppose Congress and the President preventing this tax hike by taking action to extend the current tax policy?” The results were 71.4% “yes,” 14.8% “no.”
“On average, the federal government issues more than 200 regulations per day, totaling 89,000 new regulations per year. These regulations have the effect of law, can carry stiff penalties and fines, and affect every part of American life. Yet Congress does not vote on the individual regulation, and abdicates its duty and responsibility to unelected bureaucrats. Who would you rather be responsible for creating such regulations: your elected Members of Congress, who you could hold accountable with your vote, or unelected bureaucrats you cannot hold accountable?” The results were 66.5% “Members of Congress,” 10.5% “unelected bureaucrats.”
“President Trump was just sworn in to office. Thinking about the cost of groceries, your taxes, America’s place in the world, border security, and how safe you feel, do you expect to be better off over the next four years than you are today?” The results were 50.3% “better off over 4 years,” 37.9% “worse off over 4 years.”
