Reps. Jordan, Pompeo: ‘The administration misled the public about the events in Benghazi’
House Benghazi Committee members Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) today released an addendum to the House Select Committee on Benghazi’s final report, as the two congressman believe the report released isn’t as hard-hitting as it ought to be.
“Officials at the State Department, including Secretary Clinton, learned almost in real time that the attack in Benghazi was a terrorist attack. With the presidential election just 56 days away, rather than tell the American people the truth and increase the risk of losing an election, the administration told one story privately and a different story publicly. They publicly blamed the deaths on a video-inspired protest they knew had never occurred,” the congressmen write in their summary titled “The First Victim of War is Truth: The administration misled the public about the events in Benghazi.”
When news surfaced of the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that left four Americans dead, then-White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice said the attack was spontaneous and came in reaction to a “very offensive video that was disseminated,” according to Wall Street Journal transcripts.
The American people now have the explanation they deserve of what really spurred the terror attack that left Ambassador Chris Stevens; Information Officer Sean Smith and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods dead.
