Tea Party Patriots Action Applauds 43 Senate Republicans for Demanding Spending Cuts and Budget Reforms in Exchange for an Increase in the Debt Ceiling
Atlanta, GA – Forty-three Republican Senators have signed Sen. Mike Lee’s letter demanding spending cuts and structural budget reform as a starting point for negotiations on the debt ceiling. In response, TPPA Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement: “Washington spends too much and steals too much from future generations, and it must stop. We thank Senator Lee, Leader McConnell, and all the senators who signed this letter. This letter will give Speaker McCarthy maximum leverage when he meets with President Biden on Tuesday. “With 43 senators committed to spending cuts and budget reforms, Republicans can filibuster any plan that fails the grade, thereby ensuring that any debt ceiling deal is acceptable to both parties. “The debt ceiling plan House Republicans passed last month takes a responsible path to get spending and inflation under control. Biden should work constructively with congressional Republicans to adopt a much-needed course correction and start putting our fiscal house in order.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer claims the purpose of the hearing is to “expose the true impact” of House Republicans’ proposal to lift the debt ceiling. Atlanta, GA – Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing titled, “Supreme Court Ethics Reform.” The hearing is in response to allegations that Justice Clarence Thomas failed to properly disclose gifts such as plane travel. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement: "Let's get one thing straight, the attacks being leveled by liberal politicians and the media against Justice Thomas have nothing to do with any trips he took that were paid for by others, or any alleged inaccuracies with disclosing those trips. "Justice Thomas is under attack for the simple reason that he is a black conservative justice who refuses to cower to the left. Justice Thomas has stood for the Constitution since he was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1991. For three decades, he has supported constitutional principles, ensuring that the original intent of our country's Founders is upheld despite the ever-growing push by liberals to do the opposite. Atlanta, GA – Today, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic is holding a hearing titled, “The Consequences of School Closures, Part 2: The President of the American Federation of Teachers, Ms. Randi Weingarten.” In response, TPPA Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement: “This is an accountability moment for Ms. Weingarten. At every step along the way of the Covid crisis, she ignored the science to keep kids out of classrooms. Even as every other industrialized country was returning to in-person learning, American children were suffering because of Randi Weingarten’s political agenda. “That prolonged time out of the classroom has had profoundly negative effects for children. Thanks to the school closures that Weingarten orchestrated, U.S. children suffered the sharpest decline in reading scores in more than thirty years. Furthermore, for the first time since we began tracking nationwide math scores more than fifty years ago, American children fell behind in math. Families today are still grappling with the effects of this wrong-headed policy Weingarten initiated. “When these closing were taking place, Tea Party Patriots Action mobilized parents at school board meetings to demand that schools reopen. Ms. Weingarten, Dr. Fauci, and others stood on the other side and they were wrong – disastrously wrong, and our children will be dealing with the effects of this pure folly for decades. The consequences of this ‘lost year’ for children are now undeniable, in terms of the harm it’s done to our children’s learning and socialization. This was completely avoidable and can never happen again. Ms. Weingarten should apologize at today’s hearing.”

Atlanta, GA – This week, the House is expected to vote on Speaker McCarthy’s debt ceiling proposal, the “Limit, Save, Grow Act.” This proposal ties a $1.5 trillion debt ceiling increase to long-term spending cuts. In response, TPPA Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement: "The tea party movement began as a protest to out-of-control government spending, and Tea Party Patriots Action has always called for fiscal responsibility. Today, with inflation out of control because of the Democrats’ record spending, our country needs significant spending cuts now more than ever.“Giving a blank check to a debtor who ran up his or her credit limit would be irresponsible and foolhardy, which is exactly what President Biden and his Democratic cohorts in Congress want. “Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans are looking at what is best for the American people and economy and have presented the Limit, Save, Grow Act as a compromise for the debt ceiling increase. Under this proposal, instead of a blank check debt ceiling increase, the debt ceiling will be raised for a year, with provisions attached to help improve the economy, including clawing back unspent COVID funds, defunding the hiring of 87,000 IRS agents, who, if hired, would be empowered to audit the American people, repealing the Green New Deal, and capping spending levels for 10 years.“The Limit, Save, Grow Act is a plan to get America back on the right path and will benefit the American economy as well as the American people.”

Tea Party Patriots Action Generates Over 4,000 Comments Opposing New Gas Stove Regulations as CPSC Comment Period Ends TODAY
Atlanta, GA – Today, the comment period for the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)’s possible ban on gas stoves ends. Soon after CPSC Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. suggested a gas stove ban, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) launched a “Call to Action” urging its members and supporters to leave comments opposing new gas stove regulations. As of early Monday afternoon, TPPA helped 4,448 people to leave comments, almost half the total comments that were published. TPPA Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement: “There is no question the Biden administration wants to ban gas stoves, and the only way to stop them is to mobilize public pressure against such a ban. This is part of the administration’s ‘green agenda,’ which, as a practical matter, means making daily life more expensive and more inconvenient for hard-working Americans.
