Atlanta, GA – On Thursday night, the Texas House passed SB1, landmark legislation to strengthen election integrity in the Lone Star state.  The Texas Senate passed the bill earlier this month. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“The vast majority of Texans, like the vast majority of Americans, want voting laws that make it easy to vote and hard to cheat, so we thank the Texas legislators who voted for this landmark bill. We are excited that Governor Abbott will sign the bill into law. The legislators who voted for SB1 deserve credit for resisting a nationally-coordinated left-wing pressure campaign, which included a publicity stunt in which scores of their colleagues fled the state for weeks. Texas will soon join other states such as Georgia, Florida, and Arizona, which also recently strengthened their voting laws. As we move forward in other states and at the national level, we will continue to work for legislation to ensure that our elections are free, and fair, and secure.”
