Tea Party Patriots 10th Anniversary
Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, we were able to showcase freedom fighters like Mark Levin, Sen. Ted Cruz, and Jennifer Zeng, who escaped from communist China after being tortured for her religious beliefs.
Milton Friedman once said that “our basic function” is “to develop alternatives to existing policies, to keep them alive and available until the politically impossible becomes the politically inevitable.”
With the onslaught of fake news and a deranged Democrat party, it is up to regular Americans like you, like us, to spread the word about freedom, so that the ideas of freedom are kept alive and available. Please consider supporting our work to promote the principles of freedom and educate Americans about the dangers of socialism with a donation today. This is a David vs. Goliath kind of a fight, but we are all in: will you join us?
In honor of our 10 years of strength, we are heading back to Washington, DC on September 19, 2019, to send a loud message to Washington and the entire nation that the American people DO NOT want to see America become a socialist country.
There is a growing trend towards socialism coming from the radical left-wing in this country and it’s time to stand up against it once and for all.
We don’t want Obamacare expansion. We don’t want Medicare for All. We don’t want single-payer health care. We don’t want the government to pay for college tuition. We don’t want the government to forgive student loans. And we sure as heck don’t want the government raising taxes to pay for it all.
President Trump made the bold declaration in his 2019 State of the Union speech that, “America will never be a socialist country.” Let’s show up to Washington to show President Trump support.
Show up, stand up, and help us send a loud message to Washington and our fellow Americans. It’s time for us to STOP the rise of socialism and CHOOSE the path of FREEDOM!

And More!
For ten years, Tea Party Patriots has been an influential force in American policy, and the results are telling. Politicians often seek our approval for policy measures, while the establishment elites have been trying their best to destroy us, delegitimize us, and make us go by the wayside. Through it all we have endured and even thrived for ten years!
None of our accomplishments would have been possible without you! Every single patriotic American who showed up at tea party rallies, Congressional town halls, sign-waving events, grassroots lobbying days in DC. It’s because of the actions that you have taken that have allowed us to make such an influence in our country. Please join us in Washington on September 19th at our Stop Socialism Choose Freedom Rally to send a loud message to the nation!

Washington, DC can be expensive. However, if you look around, you should be able to find a place to stay within budget. Rule of thumb is that usually the closer you stay to Capitol Hill or the White House, the more expensive it will be. You can stay in Crystal City or Pentagon City and usually find a cheaper deal. From there you’ll have to take a cab/Uber/Lyft or the Metro to get into the city. Where ever you decide to stay, decide what form of transportation you’ll need to get into the city and make sure it is readily available from your location. Cabs/Uber/Lyft are all easy to come by. If you prefer to take the Metro, make sure your hotel is near a Metro stop.

Another option would be to visit the AirBnB website or app and search for locations in the Washington, DC area. If you are unfamiliar with AirBnB, you are essentially renting out someone’s property for a short period of time.
Finally, if you need a really inexpensive option, you can look into Hostel International.
The following are some of our staff’s favorite places to eat in DC:
District Chophouse on 7th St NW – This Chophouse and Brewery serves great steaks, micro-brews, and some of the best cornbread you’ll ever have. Most everything on the menu is great. It’s a little pricey, but everything in DC is more expensive. Depending on what you get, you can spend anywhere from $20-60 per person.
Matchbox on E St NW or 8th St SE – This place is known for its pizza, but there’s something for everyone here. Mostly American cuisine at decent prices for DC standards. If Shrimp and Grits is on the menu – get it! It’s usually listed as an appetizer, but they can make an entrée sized portion as well. Also, if it’s not already specified on the menu, ask if you can get the shrimp wrapped in bacon!
The Tune Inn on Pennsylvania Ave SE – This dive-diner was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and is home of the best greasy burger in town.
Capital Grille on Pennsylvania Ave SE – More of an upscale steakhouse, this is where you’ll arguably find the best steak in town. This is definitely more on the pricey side.
The Monocle on D St NW – Located just north of the Senate office Buildings, The Monocle is a Washington, DC landmark. Don’t be surprised if you spot a US Senator dining here.
Ernie’s Crab House on King St in Alexandria – While located outside of Washington, DC, this no-frills crab house is a great place to get Maryland Blue Crab.
Night tour of the monuments: The monuments in DC are spectacular and inspiring to look at, but they are much better at night. (The weather is usually cooler as well!) It’s usually best to take a cab to the Jefferson Memorial. From there you can walk across the street to see the George Mason Memorial (you may need to look this up on a map. It is fairly well hidden.) From there, walk along the Tidal Basin and you’ll come across the FDR memorial, then MLK, Jr. From there continue on to the Korean War Memorial, then on to Lincoln. Then down the reflecting pool to the WWII Memorial (the fountains are beautiful). From there you can see the Washington Monument, and walk north to the White House. This walking tour is nearly a 3 mile walk and will likely take you up to 2 hours to complete. Here’s a link with directions and estimated walk time. If you want even more, we suggest taking a cab from the White House to the East front of the US Capitol. There you’ll be able to see the Capitol Building, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress.
Arlington National Cemetery – If you’ve never been and you have the time, you should go. It’s a very humbling experience. Be sure to watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is an experience you will never forget.
Capitol Tours – The US Capitol offers public tours frequently throughout the day. These are great and we recommend doing it if you’ve never been. For an added perk, check with your Congressman or Senators’ offices to see if you can get House or Senate gallery passes (the public tours do not enter either chamber). While you’re checking with your Congressman’s office, check to see if a Dome tour is available. While Dome tours seem to be more and more rare, if you’re lucky enough to secure one, you’ll get to climb to the very top of the Capitol Dome and look out over the entirety of Washington, DC. Dome tours are only available through your Congressman’s office. Be aware, there are lots of stairs and in some very tight, steep places – but it is totally worth it if you can make the climb!
Double-Decker Bus Tour – If this is your first time in Washington, DC, consider doing a Double-Decker bus tour. This is a great way to see a lot of Washington, DC, in the least amount of time. You can find information and buses depart from Union Station.
Trump International Hotel and the Old Post Office – The Trump International Hotel was once the Old Post Office. There is a tower with an observation deck that is still open to the public and free of charge. Aside from the Capitol dome or the Speaker’s balcony, this is one of the best views of the city that you’ll find. While you’re there, feel free to hang out in the lobby bar and people-watch. This has become a popular hangout for Trump supporters.
Mount Vernon – If you have a day to spend exploring and want to be inspired, take the half-hour trip from Washington, DC to George Washington’s Mount Vernon. It is an absolutely incredible experience to see the home of our first president. The view of the Potomac is amazing and the history will motivate you to continue fighting for liberty.
Monticello – If you have even more time to spend and the ability to rent a car, making the trek to Charlottesville to visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello is another experience of a lifetime. Monticello is a beautiful home atop a small mountain in Charlottesville. The residence is amazing and peering into the life of our third president and author of the Declaration of independence is something you must do at some point in your life!
10th Anniversary Op-Ed:
The Tea Party Isn’t Dead. It’s More Vibrant and Essential Than Ever.
– Jenny Beth Martin
Rand Paul is mistaken.
It’s not often I say that, so let me explain.
Speaking on the Senate floor last month, Kentucky’s junior senator—elected with tea party support in his first run for public office in 2010—declared the following in response to a massive two-year spending deal: “Today is the final nail in the coffin. The tea party is no more. … Adoption of this deal marks the death of the tea party movement in America.”
Give Paul credit for a flair for the dramatic. He can hyperbolize with the best of them. It’s one of the things we Tea Partiers love about him.
– Jenny Beth Martin
It was ten years ago today that the first nationwide tea party protest took place, as everyday Americans reacted to TARP (the Troubled Asset Relief Program) and the permanent bailout culture Washington, D.C. was advancing. On February 27, 2009, more than 35,000 people organized events in nearly 50 cities.
The movement grew quickly, as more and more Americans came to understand the truism that Washington’s solution– regardless of the underlying problem – is always more, and larger government.
Less than two months later, on April 15, 2009, a second round of rallies took place – this time in 850 cities, with more than a million protesters in attendance.
