That means we must act NOW and "Blue Dog Democrat" Bart Gordon (TN-6) is our target. Bart Gordon voted for the bill in the Energy & Commerce Committee before opposing it on the floor. On Thursday Gordon released a statement suggesting the cost-containment measures that President Obama proposed earlier this week to appeal to Republicans had steered the bill into more favorable territory. Gordon said, "I voted against the House bill in November because it expanded coverage but did not do enough to bring down costs. I'm pleased to see the discussion moving into a more fiscally responsible direction now." With Gordon retiring many fear Gordon will feel he "has nothing to lose" by voting for this monstrosity of a bill. We must remind him that he does in fact have a lot to lose if this bill passes, indeed we all do. Don't forget to bring your signs and your friends. It will be at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. In order to accommodate people who have to work as well as those traveling from outside Middle Tennessee we will host two events with a march / ride on the Capitol in between. The doors for the early event will open at 11:00am with booths set up by other like-minded groups as well as Candidates for office around the corridor for people to visit. Speakers will begin in the arena promptly at 12:30 and go until 1:30. At 1:45 immediately following the speakers we join “Sons of Liberty Riders” in a march / ride on the Capitol. The evening event will feature some of the same speakers, but will not be a carbon copy of the early event. Doors will re-open at 5:00 with the same booths set up to help inform the attendees about different ways they can become active in this movement as well as let them learn more about the candidates for office. It is important that the people have access to those who wish to serve them in office, and know where they stand on the issues that concern them. Speakers will begin promptly at 6:30 and end at 7:30. I believe it will increase competition and foster greater choice for consumers. All I believe it would require is something similar to a reciprocial agreement. Many states already have these agreemtns in force for hunting licenses, firearm permits and some business licenses.
