Government Waiting Rooms, Senate Emergency Call & Much More
Tea Party Event News by jennybeth

UPDATE:  If you are going to DC next week, fill this form out so we know how many hotel rooms we need to help line up.  The Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill is offering a rate of $129 per night.  The hotel needs to know how many rooms before it gives us the link you can use to reserve the room.  We will post a link for the hotel room reservations as soon as we have it which will be later today or tomorrow.

Are you sick of our elected officials in Congress ignoring us when they know good and well that We the People do not want government growth and debt to continue to spiral out of control?  Are you ready to change our actions to see if we can get the elected officials attention? Eternal vigilance is the price of libertyAre you willing to be vigilant to protect our liberty?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we need you!!  Keep on reading because we have a lot of action items that require the participation of patriots.

If you are in the southeast and within a reasonable drive of New Orleans, we need you to join Tea Party Patriots groups in New Orleans for the Streetcar Named Retire Christmas Protest on December 12 while Sen. Landrieu hosts a Fund Raiser for Senator Reid.

As you know Tea Party Patriots is a grassroots, bottom up organization.  Many, many of you have asked us to ask our other members to pray for our nation and for our elected officials in Washington, DC.  The National Coordinators and the Local Coordinators have listened to your suggestions and are asking members to take a Moment of Silence at noon eastern time on Monday, December 14.

We need you in DC on December 15th.  We need you!  We know that is 10 days before Christmas. We want to be with our families, shopping, and enjoying the holidays as much as you do.  Even more we want to make sure that the government cannot control our health care.  There are 2 separate events that are happening in DC on December 15: Government Waiting Rooms and Senate Emergency Call.  The events are being hosted by several groups including Tea Party Patriots, Freedom Works, Patients First - a project of Americans for Prosperity, Let Freedom Ring, National Taxpayers Union, and others.  Additionally, if you cannot be in DC, we could use your help locally in the states of the 13 targeted Senators.

December 16, is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.  The South Florida Tea Party Patriots groups are having Boston Tea Party Anniversary Candlelight Vigils and have asked the nation to join them for candlelight vigils on December 16.

Keep reading for further details on each of these actions below. Watch our website daily for updates.  We plan to post checklists early in the week to help you if you are planning events locally.

December 12: Streetcar Named Retire Christmas Protest in New Orleans

Numerous Tea Parties from around Louisiana will be gathering in New Orleans on Saturday, December 12th, 2009If you are within a reasonable driving distance of New Orleans, we are asking you to join Tea Party Patriots in New Orleans

The purpose is to give Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) a real Louisiana welcome to their elite fundraiser on exclusive St. Charles Avenue.

We want Senator Reid to know how much we appreciate him using $300 million of our money to buy Senator Landrieu's recent vote on the health care bill, and we want Senator Landrieu to know how much we appreciate her voting against the overwhelming majority of her constituents.

As this is the Holiday season, we will be singing appropriately re-worded Christmas Carols for their enjoyment.

The gathering will start at 10:00am on the neutral ground (median to non-cajuns) at Toledano and Pleasant Streets. Those streets are between St. Charles Avenue and Prytania Street, in the "Uptown" section of New Orleans.

We will meet there, in the large median and then progress down to the fundraiser for some caroling and speeches.  Everyone is encouraged to bring holiday-themed signs and banners.

Parking in uptown New Orleans is very scarce, and we do not want to inconvenience the neighbors. Therefore, we ask that participants please park away from the event and take the streetcar.  It's a wonderful ride!

More information about parking and other concerns will be forth-coming in the next day or so. Interested parties contact:

December 14: Moment of Silence & Government Waiting Rooms Prep

As you know Tea Party Patriots is a grassroots, bottom up organization.  Many, many of you have asked of us to ask our members to pray for our nation and for our elected officials in Washington, DC. The National Coordinators and the Local Coordinators have listened to your suggestions and are asking members to take a Moment of Silence at noon eastern time on Monday, December 14.

Use this time to pray for our country and that our elected officials have the courage to represent us, We the People.  Use the time to contemplate the sacrifices that have been made for our Constitution and liberty and to contemplate what eternal vigilance means.  Consider what it is worth to you to insure that future generations enjoy the same liberties we enjoy today.

If you can be in DC on the afternoon of December 14, we need your help in prepping for the Government Waiting Rooms. Use this form to RSVP. We will be in touch with you shortly for when and where we will meet.

December 15: Government Waiting Rooms and Senate Emergency Call

For Government Waiting Rooms, we need those who can be in DC early on December 15th to meet us.  We need at least 1,000 people early that morning and we are hoping for more to help make this successful.  We are still working on the details for the exact meet up location before we begin visiting our Senators' offices.  The meet up time will be at or about 8:45 am by the fountain at Upper Senate Park.  If you are available to meet in the DC in the afternoon of December 14, we need your help to prepare for the Waiting Rooms.

So many of you are outraged that our demonstrations since February are largely being ignored and have asked how we can get the attention of the elected officials other than a straight up demonstration. Government Waiting Rooms will be the answer to this question.  Government Waiting Rooms will highlight the impact of rationing and long, long waiting lists that will occur when and if government takes over our health care.  The idea the result of brainstorming with over 200 local coordinators and Tea Party Patriots members from around the country.

For those who cannot be in DC there until later in the morning, we will ask that you participate in Senate Emergency Call, which will be a demonstration at 1:00 in Upper Senate Park before going to visit the Senators' offices.  It will have a few speakers but the program, which is being coordinated by Patients First - a project of Americans for Prosperity, will remain short so there is more time for office visits.

It is our understanding 1 organization already has 100 buses lined up to take people to DC on the 15th.  If you can arrange a bus or are already arranging one, please be sure to list it on our website (in addition to other sites you may have it listed) to get as much exposure as possible for the event.  There are also buses listed at High Noon for Healthcare.

For those who cannot be in DC on December 15, we are asking that you organize a Government Waiting Room or Senate Emergency Call locally.  We especially need these locally in the states of the targeted Senators.

December 16: Boston Tea Party Anniversary Candlelight Vigils

December 16, is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.  The South Florida Tea Party Patriots groups are having Boston Tea Party Anniversary Candlelight Vigils and have asked the nation to join them for candlelight vigils on December 16

On December 16, 1773, after officials in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britain, a group of colonial patriots boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. We want to remember them and all the brave patriots who fought for freedom. Please join us for a candlelight vigil - the light of freedom shall not be extinguished!

If a candlelight vigil is not listed on our site for your local area, please plan one and list it. The National Coordinators are creating a packet for how to host a Candlelight Vigil and will post it on our website.

Beyond December 16
